Farwell- The Bucktail Bucks are gearing up for their 2026 season, that begins with a scrimmage on August 22 and ends on Halloween afternoon in Bloomsburg. The Bucks have an eight-game regular season schedule.

Senior Night, homecoming and any other special game dates have not yet been released. Railroad City Sports will have these dates when they’re made available.

So without further delay, here’s a breakdown of the 2026 Bucktail Varsity football schedule!

August 22 Columbia Montour Vo Tech at Bucktail (scrimmage) 11am

Don’t expect new head coach Bruce Ransom to show all of his cards in this one. With Emporium only an hour from Farwell and Cameron County in week one, Ransom’s strategy will be conservative. His plan will be to not show too much in the scrimmage. He plans to show no more than a dozen offensive plays against the Rams, who the Bucks close out the regular season on the road on October 31.

August 28 Bucktail at Cameron County 7pm

The Bucks dropped a pair of games to the Red Raiders in 2025. Bucktail fell in Emporium, 54-6 to start the season and then dropped a 35-6 Flaming Foliage contest at Dwyer Memorial Field. Cameron County will be Bucktail’s toughest test of the season. The Red Raiders have been one of District 9’s most consistent playoff teams in 1A. The recent success has seen them move from Region 4 to Region 3.

September 4 Otto-Eldred at Bucktail 7pm

Bucktail’s home opener will be a fun one. The Terrors and Bucks have a rivalry that extends long before they became D9 League rivals. This Region 4 clash could be exciting. Otto-Eldred lost star quarterback Shane Magee to graduation. Last year in Duke Center the Terrors beat the Bucks 50-8.

September 18 Moniteau at Bucktail 7pm

The Warriors met the Bucks for the first time ever a season ago. Get used to pronouncing “Moniteau” because they are now a full fledged Region 4 rival. Bucktail took the opening drive a season ago in West Shamokin down to the Warriors four-yard line. The drive stalled and Moniteau racked up 35-straight unanswered points in their 35-0 victory. The Warriors lost some key components from that team, which will help the Bucks.

September 25 Bucktail at Smethport 7pm

No, you didn’t read that wrong. For the third-straight season the Bucks are headed to Smethport for a Regional contest. The Hubbers scored 35 points in the first quarter of last year’s meeting. Bucktail responded by outscoring Smethport 28-18 during the game’s final three quarters.

October 2 Bucktail at Coudersport 7pm, October 16 Coudersport at Bucktail 7pm

With no Flaming Foliage game scheduled, Bucktail will meet Coudy in back-to-back games. The first is set for a road trip to Carp Park on October 9. The Falcons swept the Bucks a season ago by the counts of 54-0 and 40-14. Don’t expect those results again this season.

October 23 Ridgeway at Bucktail 7pm

For the first time to my knowledge, the Elkers of Ridgeway will travel to Farwell to meet the Bucktail Bucks in the final scheduled regular season home game. The Elkers are a D9 League Region 3 program that has done well within the 1A realm. Ridgeway currently only has 22 players on their roster and could be a decent draw for the Bucks.

October 31 Bucktail at Columbia Montour Vo Tech 12pm

Halloween only adds to the mystique of Bucktail’s longest tenured opponent. The Rams are an old All American Football Conference rival during Bruce Ransom’s first run with the Bucktail program. This is the first regular season meeting since the lights went out in Farwell, killing the Bucks’ final drive. This resulted in a CMVT win, 36-34.
