Farwell- It’s no secret that the biggest rivalry in District IV softball is between Montgomery and Bucktail, no matter what level of play is taking the field. On Tuesday night at Bucktail, the two Mid Penn Conference rivals clashed in Junior High action.

The Lady Bucks utilized a trio of pitchers and clubbed six hits to open their 2026 season with an 8-1 home win.

Kiplee Friese, Blake Houser and Adi Getz combined to strike out 10 Lady Raiders, while allowing just three walks and 2 hits in five innings of work.

Houser picked up the win in the circle and fanned four batters in two innings of work. Houser also paced the Bucktail offense with a pair of singles and two runs scored.

Friese also collected four strikeouts in two innings of work and added a single at the plate.

Getz wiffed a pair of Lady Raiders in a single inning in the circle. She also collected a single at the plate.

Madison Dent sparked a 6-run Bucktail first inning with an inside the park home run. Dent’s big hit helped give Bucktail a 6-1 lead. The Lady Bucks added a run in the bottom of the second inning and a final run in the fifth inning.

Andrea Burrows also added a hit for Bucktail. Taylor Ditty picked up an RBI. Audrina Tarantella scored a pair of runs in the win.
