Momma and the twins

Farwell- Wildlife in back yards are common in Western Clinton County, but this summer we were blessed with a mother deer and her two fawns. They have been daily visitors to our apple trees and grapevines since early June and they seem to not be startled by my wife and myself, or our six barking and howling chihuahuas.

I’m not exactly sure if Momma is the deer that nearly drown in late May in the river out back. Soon after she was seen reaching the shoreline in highwater, the tiny twin fawns showed up.

Despite being wild animals, they’ve been very comfortable here the entire summer. Momma even allowed my wife to talk to her when she was just feet away from our front porch.

She’s been a good mother considering the closeness of 120 and a decent number of coyotes in Farwell.

We did get a scare about a week ago. My uncle thought momma was struck by a car up on 120. Just before dark she showed up with the twins and all was goodon Central Ave again!

Now only if I could get our resident groundhog to go play on the road!
