Farwell- Junior high softball has a unique rule used to shorten game lengths. They use a 90-minute time limit and Friday night, the Lady Bucks beat the clock with their backs to the wall.

With just under 20 minutes remaining and trailing visiting Millville by a 7-4 score, Bucktail rallied in the bottom of the third innings. The Lady Bucks plated three runs to knot things up at 7-7 before a Taylor Ditty RBI lifted the home team with a go ahead run. Bucktail added an insurance run to lead 9-7.

The Lady Quakers had enough time for one more at bat, but Bucktail pitcher Kiplee Fries finished off the game and held off the final chance for the visitors to give the Lady Bucks the victory. Friese earned the win following a two and third inning span in relief of starter Adi Getz.

Bucktail struggled in the field and committed 6 errors, which accounted for the quick Millville lead. Bucktail’s offense managed just four base hits, but were helped by 9 walks allowed by Millville pitching.

Getz led the Lady Bucks with a double, a single and a pair of runs batted in. Friese and Blake Houser also connected on singles in the win.

Bucktail, now 3-0 will next be in action on Monday afternoon when they travel to Central Mountain for an opening pitch time set for 4:30pm.
