Austin picked up a hard-fought five-set win over Coudersport Wednesday evening, holding on for a 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 19-25, 16-14 victory.
The Lady Panthers came out strong and grabbed the first two sets, but Coudersport answered back in the third and fourth to force a deciding fifth set. The final set turned into a battle, with Austin having to fight back from a Coudersport game point before closing out the match.
Anna Brewer had a big night running the offense for Austin, finishing with 51 assists, 6 digs and 3 aces.
Cailyn Ogden led the attack with 19 kills, while also adding 6 digs, 5 blocks and 5 aces. Marissa Stuckey added 17 kills, 7 digs and 4 aces, and Mary Clinger chipped in with 6 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces.
Austin started strong before getting a little lax in the third and fourth sets, but the Lady Panthers found a way to battle back when it mattered most.
The win was another strong showing for a team that has been dealing with injuries, while also getting key contributions from younger players stepping in to fill important roles.
Austin will be back on the court tomorrow at home against Port Allegany.
