Moniteau, Kern run past Bucktail, 31-12

Farwell- Moniteau senior Aiden Kern had himself a game Friday night in Farwell. The senior Warrior wideout did everything the help his team grab their first victory of 2026.

In a second, Kern quickly changed the outcome of Friday’s D9 League Region 4 meeting between Moniteau and Bucktail.

The Bucks used a strong defense to stop the initial Warrior drive. Bucktail then put together a drive that Corbin Pentz capped off with a 25 yard strike to Angelo Tarantella for a touchdown and the 6-0 lead.

Kern then took over. He bobbled a Bransen Getz kickoff, only to pick it up and race 80 yards for the score. Kern drilled the PAT to give Moniteau the 7-6 lead.

Kern’s night got better in the second quarter when Moniteau quarterback Weston Cook found him on a 55-yard scoring strike and his second PAT had Moniteau up 14-6.

That score held as the second quarter drew to a close.

Bucktail made one last effort. The Bucks rallied deep into Warrior territory on their opening drive of the second half. Pentz capped off the drive with a two-yard plunge to shrink Moniteau’s lead to 14-12.

The Warriors began to move the ball with ease in the second half. Behind quarterback Weston Cook, who’s lone mistake was an interception by Bucktail’s Marv Robinson and the running of Liam Allison, Aiden Shakley and Kern Moniteau grinded out the clock and racked more points.

Allison’s 9-yard run with 4:06 remaining in the third quarter gave the Warriors a 21-12 lead. Kern added a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and Shakley’s 2-yard run with under 4 minutes remaining helped lock up the 31-12 win.

Moniteau improved to 1-3 on the season, while the Bucks dropped to 0-3.

Patrick Tarantella racked up 65 yards rushing and Pentz finished with 117 yards on 13 of 26 passing. Teagan Stone’s 46 yards receiving on 5 catches and Aidan Ditty’s 40 yards on 3 grabs paced the Bucks.

Bucktail will next travel to Smethport next Friday night. The Hubbers drilled Otto-Eldred 56-30 tonight.
