Elkers looking to get back on pace at Bucktail

Farwell- Ridgeway started off hot in 2026. The Elkers started the season 5-1 following their 41-0 win at Cameron County. Ridgeway has dropped two-straight contests against District 9 monsters Karns City (78-26) and Port Allegany (32-16). back to back home losses have the Elkers eying a much needed win at Bucktail if they have any hopes of reach the District 9 1A playoffs.

A loss to the 1-5 Bucks could all, but write-off Ridgeway for postseason contention. With their 2026 regular season wrapping up on the road at a very tough Punxsutawney, a victory in Farwell on Senior Night is much needed.

For Bucktail and head coach Bruce Ransom, their stunner over Coudersport last week is in their rearview mirror and a hungry Elkers’ squad has brought reality back to Dwyer Memorial Field.

Bucktail will also be celebrating Military Appreciation Night.

Key Players

Ridgeway features a dangerous trio of running backs in Markus Gerg (90.3 ypg) Owen Steger (81.4 ypg) and Jace Zimmerman (73.4 ypg). The Bucks have struggled with opponents featured backs, so three running backs that can cause damage spells trouble for Ransom’s defense.

Ridgeway has given up a lot of points this season, which could play into the hands of Bucktail Corbin Pentz, who has yet to break out in 2026 like he did during his freshman season. Teagan Stone and Aidan Ditty are still a dangerous tandem and throw in Angelo Tarantella and the Bucks could cause issues early in this one.

Levi Stevenson finally had his chance under Bruce Ransom last Friday night. Stevenson’s 187 yards against Coudersport was a team-best in 2026.

Friday’s game is set to kickoff at 6pm. Railroad City Sports will begin their broadcast at 5:30 pm.
